  • Full time, 5 year executive contract

Our Story

The IT Shared Solutions (ITSS) Division is a collaboration area in which the TAC and WorkSafe share resources to deliver IT solutions to both organisations.

The TAC is a Victorian state government organisation whose role is to promote road safety, support those who have been injured on our roads and help them get their lives back on track.

WorkSafe Victoria plays a critical role in the lives of Victorian employers and workers - as the state's health and safety regulator and as the manager of Victoria's workers compensation scheme. In both capacities, employers and workers are at the heart of our service.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Head of ITSS, the Senior Manager, Contract & Commercial has end-to-end accountability for the technology contract portfolio under ITSS management, supporting WorkSafe and the TAC.   

The Senior Manager, Contract & Commercial will provide strategic, tactical and operational advice to a broad range of stakeholders to ensure contracts align with the business needs of the TAC and WorkSafe, organisational risk appetite and Service Level agreements between ITSS and the TAC and WorkSafe.

The Contracts & Commercial function includes supplier management, financial management and analysis of IT services, budgeting and reporting, contract management and procurement of IT services in conjunction with relevant business partners

A Day in the Life

  • The relationship management of strategic technology suppliers and reporting to various stakeholders on the health, risk and sustainability of technology contracts under ITSS management
  • Negotiating and resolving contractual issues, promoting change control processes and leading variation negotiations where necessary
  • Advising on financial planning and budgeting, developing financial plans and forecasts whilst monitoring and managing IT expenditure, ensuring IT budget targets are met and examining areas where budgets and expenditure exceed their agreed tolerances
  • Driving a high customer service ethic within the contracts and commercial team
  • Working closely with Corporate Risk, Legal and Procurement stakeholders to ensure all contracts under ITSS management comply with the relevant legal, legislative and procurement requirements.
  • Overseeing the day-to-day preparation of briefing papers to support executive and board level approvals.

What you’ll need to succeed?

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/ or significant experience in a similar role
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to problem solve in a contract and commercial context
  • Demonstrated capability to identify and engage effectively with the customer stakeholders, establishing collaborative and trusted working relationships;
  • Demonstrated outcomes achieved through leadership of high performing teams, mentoring and coaching team members through all stages of career and personal development;
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills, and the ability to adapt these to a diverse range of stakeholders and contexts;
  • Substantial experience engaging and managing external vendors to service delivery outcomes, including management to financial and service Key Performance Indicators;
