Care in Action
With a career at the TAC, you’ll be helping us look out for the lives of everyone who travels on Victoria’s roads. That’s care in action.
Find out more about our shared purpose, and what drives every one of us.
Right now, we’re seeking a Manager, Corporate Legal who will play their part in this shared purpose, while also supporting the progress of clients and colleagues so they can achieve great things. That’s truly rewarding work that will help us continue to deliver life-critical services where it matters.
About the role
The Manager, Corporate Legal is a key leadership position responsible for guiding and mentoring a team of Solicitors within the TAC’s Corporate Legal function. You will manage your own portfolio of commercial, non-litigated, and strategically significant litigated commercial matters, providing practical, solutions-focused legal advice that supports the TAC’s strategic objectives and transformation agenda, aligned with the Make Every Day Matter Strategy and our role within the Victorian community.
More than a legal expert, you bring strong business acumen and sound judgment - supporting your team in managing workloads, while enabling the broader organisation to recognise when legal input is essential. You guide stakeholders to the appropriate support and encourage efficient, confident, and informed decision-making across the business.
You will also oversee the Delegations and Authorisations Framework, ensuring ongoing compliance with legal and regulatory obligations.
About the Team
This role sits within the newly established Corporate Legal & Compliance branch, making it an exciting time to join the Finance & Governance division, a team committed to ensuring the TAC is financially sustainable, operates efficiently, and is governed effectively.
You will lead a team of motivated Solicitors who are eager to learn, grow, and contribute to the evolution of the function.
You will report to the newly appointed General Counsel, a strong, strategic, and hands-on leader who will support you in achieving your goals and delivering impact across the organisation.
What we’re looking for
Supportive & Strategic People Leader
You’re an experienced people leader with the ability to manage, coach, and develop a high-performing legal team. You align your team’s focus with TAC’s broader strategy and divisional priorities, bringing a proactive and innovative mindset. You’ll play a key role in identifying and implementing improvements that lift the effectiveness and impact of the branch.
Experienced Legal Professional
You hold tertiary qualifications in Law, a current Victorian Practising Certificate, and admission as an Australian Lawyer. You bring substantial experience in commercial (non-litigious) law, with a strong track record of managing complex legal matters across both operational and strategic levels. Your advice is clear, practical, and aligned to business outcomes.
Pragmatic & Trusted Stakeholder Partner
You are collaborative and skilled in building strong internal relationships. With sound commercial acumen, you take a pragmatic approach, knowing when to support, guide or empower stakeholders to own their responsibilities, enabling confident, risk aware, decision making across the organisation.
Why you’ll love it here
There’s more to work than a competitive salary and amazing employee benefits. As our newest Manager, Corporate Legal, you’ll also:
Make a positive difference
Every day the work you do at the TAC contributes to something bigger. As part of an inclusive, supportive team you’ll find real purpose in achieving goals, together.
Be rewarded for great work
We value our people, offering a corporate incentive, salary packaging and a reward and recognition program.
Grow and go places
We’re invested in your progress. When you work for one of Victoria’s largest and leading workplaces, you’ll receive extensive internal opportunities for development and access to the LinkedIn Learning Digital Hub.
