About the role

This role is responsible for shaping and delivering the strategic and operational agenda of the First Nations portfolio in People Culture and Engagement division and support the broader organisation wide First Nations goals. Central to this is advancing reconciliation at the TAC, and within the broader community, by promoting cultural safety, enhancing inclusion, and expanding employment and development pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The role is the TAC’s key liaison with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, building trusted relationships and partnerships.

About the Team

This role sits within the Culture and Inclusion branch within the broader People, Culture and Engagement Division which enable and support a high-performance culture where people are capable and empowered to deliver exceptional results for our clients and community so that the TAC is positioned as an employer of choice.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Culture and Inclusion, you will be supported by a team who live and breathe the importance of Inclusion and Diversity every day, who deeply value lived experience and work to create a culturally safe and inclusive culture. You will be joining a team who works collaboratively to deliver enterprise-wide initiatives and focus on enhancing the employee experience for people of all backgrounds. Our work centres on building a high performing culture enriched by diversity in all its forms.

What we’re looking for

Proven ability to foster respectful, trust-based relationships with First Nations communities and leaders, grounded in cultural understanding and long-term collaboration including:

  • Demonstrated success in engaging senior stakeholders to embed transformative change aligned with First Nations aspirations and business objectives
  • Deep understanding of co-design, self-determination, and advocacy principles, with a demonstrated ability to embed these into program design and lead inclusive, culturally safe processes.

Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills

Proven stakeholder management skills including demonstrated experience in translating data analysis to a broad range of stakeholders, including highly developed ability to produce briefing documents, reports and communications.

Proven Project Management skills

Strong leadership experience in managing complex projects with a strong focus on outcomes, accountability, and aligning with strategic priorities.

 Highly developed written and oral communication skills

Strong communication, and interpersonal skills and proven experience managing diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Collaborative leader and team player

Experience in overseeing coordination and administration, while fostering a high-performing and culturally safe team environment
