Care in Action

With a career at the TAC, you’ll be helping us look out for the lives of everyone who travels on Victoria’s roads. That’s care in action.

Find out more about our shared purpose, and what drives every one of us.

Right now, we’re seeking a Media & Communications Coordinator who will play their part in this shared purpose, while also supporting the progress of clients and colleagues so they can achieve great things. That’s truly rewarding work that will help us continue to deliver life-critical services where it matters.

About the role

The Media and Communications Coordinator plays a key role in delivering the TAC’s media strategy, sharing vital road safety messages and other organisational updates with the Victorian community via print, broadcast, and digital media.

In this dynamic, fast-paced role, you will develop media releases, responses and key messages. You will also coordinate media events, liaise with journalists and ministerial media advisors, support multimedia production, oversee media monitoring, and help brief TAC spokespeople. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of the media landscape, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to manage tight deadlines and shifting priorities.

About the Team

You will join the Media Relations & Corporate Affairs team within the Communications, Media & Digital branch in the Community division, who are committed to educating, engaging, and influencing the Victorian community to foster a safety-first road culture and deliver the best outcomes for clients.

The team operates in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, supporting one another through daily priorities that evolve quickly. Team members value open communication, shared problem-solving, and in-office collaboration. You will be supported by a Team Manager who encourages autonomy, while remaining available for guidance, feedback, and coaching whenever needed.

What we’re looking for

Media-Savvy Communicator

You bring experience in journalism or a media liaison role, ideally within a government or public sector environment. You’re confident working with internal teams, journalists, ministerial advisors, and other external stakeholders to shape and protect organisational reputation through timely and accurate communications.

Strong Written and Verbal Skills

You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging messages for a wide range of audiences. Experience in video production or multimedia content creation is highly desirable.

Deadline-Driven and Autonomous

You are highly organised and comfortable managing competing priorities to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while also working autonomously and contributing positively to a collaborative team.

Why you’ll love it here

There’s more to work than a competitive salary and amazing employee benefits. As our newest Media and Communications Coordinator, you’ll also:
