Care in Action
With a career at the TAC, you’ll be helping us look out for the lives of everyone who travels on Victoria’s roads. That’s care in action.
Find out more about our shared purpose, and what drives every one of us.
Right now, we’re seeking a FOI Manager who will play their part in this shared purpose, while also supporting the progress of clients and colleagues so they can achieve great things. That’s truly rewarding work that will help us continue to deliver life-critical services where it matters.
About the role
We’re seeking a confident and strategic leader to manage the Freedom of Information (FOI) team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the TAC’s Information Release functions. This includes managing requests under the Freedom of Information Act 1982, responding to subpoenas under the County Court Rules, and handling access requests under section 131 of the Transport Accident Act 1986.
You will provide high-level, expert FOI and strategic advice to senior and executive stakeholders, manage responses to the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (OVIC), and represent the TAC at VCAT for appeals. This role also involves managing sensitive and high-profile FOI requests from media, politicians, and special interest groups.
About the Team
Joining the Legislation and Privacy branch within the Community division and supported by a Senior Manager, you will be given the autonomy to lead your team and drive outcomes. Regular weekly check-ins will help align on KPIs and workloads, but day-to-day, you will have full ownership of your function.
Leading a team of 7 experienced and dedicated FOI professionals – we are looking for someone who can champion the value of their services.
What we’re looking for
Constructive & Supportive Leader
A proven leader who builds high-performing teams through a constructive leadership style. You role model continuous improvement and are committed to education, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing in FOI decision-making.
FOI Expertise & Legal Acumen
Experience in managing complex and high-profile FOI requests, including providing expert advice, responding to OVIC reviews and complaints, and managing FOI matters at VCAT.
Trusted & Strategic Stakeholder Partner
The ability to quickly build strong and productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You will advocate for your team, uplift the FOI function, and clearly communicate the value it brings to the broader organisation.
Why you’ll love it here
There’s more to work than a competitive salary and amazing employee benefits. As our newest FOI Manager, you’ll also:
Make a positive difference
Every day the work you do at the TAC contributes to something bigger. As part of an inclusive, supportive team you’ll find real purpose in achieving goals, together.
Be rewarded for great work
We value our people, offering a corporate incentive, salary packaging and a reward and recognition program.
Grow and go places
We’re invested in your progress. When you work for one of Victoria’s largest and leading workplaces, you’ll receive extensive internal opportunities for development and access to the LinkedIn Learning Digital Hub.
