Right now, we’re seeking Seasonal Clerks who will play their part in this shared purpose, while also supporting the progress of clients and colleagues so they can achieve great things. That’s truly rewarding work that will help us continue to deliver life-critical services where it matters.

About the role

Completing a Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) Seasonal Clerkship at the TAC is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into working as a Solicitor in the Public Sector. This experience will provide Clerks with a unique understanding of the TAC’s culture and values.

Our Seasonal Clerks spend 3 weeks working in our legal branch, which is comprised of four legal teams who support the TAC to make decisions in accordance with the Transport Accident Act 1986 (Vic), and represent the TAC in alternative dispute resolution processes and litigated proceedings.

Whilst at the TAC, Seasonal Clerks are supported by Solicitors, Senior Solicitors, Senior Legal Managers, and other internal stakeholders to engage with our day to day work and are encouraged to take part in development opportunities that arise during their Clerkship. Work in the Legal Branch at the TAC can involve exposure to a variety of areas of law, including:

  • Personal Injury Law:
  • Statutory Interpretation and Administrative Law;
  • Serious Injury Litigation;
  • Common Law Litigation;
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution.

What we’re looking for

In accordance with the LIV guidelines, the TAC will accept applications from law students in the penultimate and final year of their legal studies. We are also looking for candidates with the following skills:

Strong Communication skills

Proven communication skills with the ability to interact with a range of stakeholders

Team Player
